How to make a patient’s whole record set, the clinical photos and the study-model pictures, from one upload with Record Studio.
Record Studio is in beta testing: it is open to invited testers, and free during the beta. Would you like to join? Contact us. Each time you start (in a new tab or window), you accept the beta testing terms: tick I have read and accept the Beta testing terms and press Continue.
What it does
Record Studio puts Photo Prep and Occlusal view on one page. You type the patient’s name once and drop in all the files together: the camera photos go to Photo Prep, the intraoral scans to Occlusal view. You then download the ten finished photos, the double occlusal view, the model pictures, or everything in one zip.
Before you start
- An account that includes it: Record Studio comes with All Software, or with both Occlusal view Unlimited and Photo Prep Unlimited. Log in first. The first time, you tick a box to accept the Occlusal view terms (once is enough, here or on the Occlusal view page).
- The patient’s files: the camera photos (JPEG, as the camera saves them) and the upper and lower STL scans from your scanner, exported in the bite. Other files are listed as Not used.
- A recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on a computer.
- Privacy: your photos, your scans and the patient’s name stay on your computer. Record Studio works in your browser and uploads nothing.
Step by step
- Type the patient’s name in Patient name (it flashes until you do). Every word starts with a capital. The name goes on every picture and into the file names.
- Add the files: press Upload files, or drop all of the patient’s photos and scans in the box at once (or in several goes). The line under the box says what arrived, for example 11 photos · upper and lower scans · 1 not used, and lists any file that was not used.
- Check the photos in the Photos tab: the ten finished pictures, as in Photo Prep. Click a picture to change its crop, tilt or turn; a picture marked Check needs a look. If the tab says Needs your attention, Photo Prep is asking which photo is which.
- Check the models in the Models tab: the double occlusal view and the five record views, straightened as in Occlusal view.
- Download with the buttons under the upload box: Download The 10 Photos (Zip), Download Double Occlusal View Only, Download Model Pictures And Double Occlusal View, or Download All (one zip with a Photos and a Models folder, named after the patient). Each button comes on once its part is ready and the name is in.
Settings
Each tab has its own tool’s settings: the picture changes in Photos (see Changing a picture), and the base, the curve, Trim edges and the straightening buttons in Models (see Occlusal view’s settings).
What it costs
Record Studio is included in All Software, or with both Occlusal view Unlimited and Photo Prep Unlimited; it uses no credits. During beta testing it is free for invited testers. See Pricing.
Common questions
A file is listed as Not used
Record Studio takes camera photos (JPEG) and STL scans. Anything else, such as a PDF or a PNG screenshot, is listed and left out; the rest carries on.
The model buttons stay off
They say Add the upper and lower scans until the scans are in. Download All needs the photos and the scans.
I forgot a photo
Drop it in the box: it is added to the photos already there, and the models stay as they are.
